Mr Allan's Revision tips!

1) do questions! maths is about practice, if you aint doing questions to practice, you aint revising properly!

2) do no more than 30mins in one go without a break. So if you want to do an hours revision, do 30mins, have a break, then do another 30mins. Your brain starts losing track after 30mins solid.

After a while of not updating for AGES, this blog will be back functioning in the near future.

Moving Averages

Moving Averages

A moving average is used to compare a set of figures over time. For example, suppose you have measured the weight of a child over an eight year period and have the following figures (in kg):
32, 33 ,35, 38, 43, 53, 63 ,65

Taking the mean doesn't give us much useful information. However, we could take the average of each 3 year period. These are the 3-year moving averages.
The first is: (32 + 33 + 35)/3 = 33.3
The second is: (33 + 35 + 38)/3 = 35.3
The third is: (35 + 38 + 43)/3 = 38.7, and so on (there are 3 more!).

To calculate the 4 year moving averages, you'd do 4 years at a time instead, and so on...

Saudi Arabia win the world cup !!!!!!!

After a nail-biting sudden-death penalty shootout in the final! Saudi Arabia spring a ginat killing in the 7G3 world cup!! Manager Israr Khan said it was "a great day for Saudi football", Croatia manager Bradley Barton was too gutted to comment.

However, in the 7W2 world cup it was a different story with Croatia beating a spirited England side in the final. Croatia manager Ciaron Gibson was delighted with the "hard work" of his players. England manager Jashan Benawra was gracious in defeat admitting "the best team won"

In the 8W2 world cup, shock finalists Ecuador were beaten by a strong performance by the Czech Republic after some good tactical decisions by Manvir Soor. Ecuador manager Connor Stalbow still maintains the "last 3 Czech goals were clearly offside, and the first one was a foul"

Brazil most likely to win the world cup!!

Here are what is widely regarded as the most accurate probabilities of team's chances of winning the world cup, based on form, fifa rankings, how hard their potential fixtures could be and much more. Brazil are still favourites but not as strong as everyone may think!

If in doubt, draw a picture!
Remember your directions of velocities (which way is positive??)
g= 9.8 m/s²
When resolving, cos is through the angle, sine is away from it
3 sf !!
match your units, km and hours with km/h, m and secs with m/s etc
Remember your Normal reactions
Don't forget friction on rough surfaces

Triathlon Time Challenge

Here's competition number two, and this time it's open to the whole world!! so you are competing against 6 billion people!!

Anyway. I wish to do a triathlon. It's a 200m swim, then a 10km bike, then a 5 km run all without stopping!!

My best times at the individual events are
200 swim : 4mins 34 seconds
10km bike : 16mins 32 seconds
5km run: 23mins 37 seconds

It takes me 10% longer to do the parts when I have to do them together, and there is a 30 second transition from swim to bike, and 30 second transition from bike to run

so the question is this:

What should be my finishing time??
A) 50 mins 20 seconds
B) 50 mins 11 seconds
C) 50 mins 34 seconds
D) 50 mins 25 seconds
E) another time, for you to specify

Lemonade Stand make as much money as possible by tweaking your recipe

Behind the Blob work out whats behind the red blob, can you do the very tricky level 8??

Hit the button a very "syk" game I pinched off Miss Caven

Connect 4 a nice connect 4 game, very hard on the "hard" setting

Combination Lock can you work out the codes to unlock the padlocks??

3d colour cube connect the same colour squares together with a path of that colour, starts easy I'm stuck on level 5 !

Tents can you find where all the tents are? like minesweeper but much better

Tangram all these pieces fit nicely to make a square! drag them in (press shift and click to rotate them)

Cubox move the blocks using the arrows to make the shapes given

Subtraction Action click as many number as possible to make the subtraction sum correct

Multiplication station like subtraction action but with multplication

Quick Rotation use the arrows to select and "z" and "x" to rotate, get the numbers in order

Yellow Out a bit like rush but you have to get yellow car out, more levels and better looking than original

Hare and Hounds- can you trap the hare in?

Fiver change all the white coins to black by clicking (harder than you think!)

Lucky balls get rid of the balls by shooting to make a cluster of 3 or more

Squares join the dots to make more squares than the computer!

Cabeem you have to get rid of all the blocks by clicking on ones with two or more of the same colour, good but hard game

Escape- The most addictive game in the world!
